It's not easy being green!

Residents are reminded that the definition of "green waste" means tree cuttings, limbs, branches, grass cuttings and garden waste.

There are a few people who do not realise that a timber pallet or a green lounge chair or green fibreglass sheeting is not actually green waste.

It is Council's responsibility to ensure that only green waste is dealt with in accordance with the Department of Environment and Conservation guidelines.

The department is reluctant to allow periodic burning of green waste, however it will be necessary to investigate alternative methods of reduction in the future.

It is essential that residents ensure that only green waste is placed in the green waste area.

This also applies to the white goods separation area. White goods means stoves, refrigerators, washing machines or items of scrap metal, it does not mean concrete, grass clippings, toilet bowl or whatever is in your trailer.

Your assistance and thought when visiting the tip would be appreciated.
